TU225 Monthly Membership Meeting

The Narragansett Chapter of Trout Unlimited (TU225) will host its monthly membership meeting on Wednesday, November 29, 2017 starting at 6:30 PM, at the Coventry / West Greenwich Elks Lodge, 42 Nooseneck Hill Road (Rte. 3, Exit 6 off of Rte. 95), West Greenwich, R.I. 02817. This will be the third of our “indoor” meetings, presentations, and lectures of fall/winter season. We will be discussing ongoing, upcoming, and completed educational events, projects, and activities that the chapter has and will be involved in during the year and available on our website calendar at www.narragansett.tu.org. This third “off the river” meeting will allow our members and guests to network, tell fishing and fly tying tales of the past summer months, discuss fall fishing tactics, and other items of interest. A 50/50 raffle, with proceeds benefiting the chapter and its mission: “To conserve, protect, restore, and sustain the cold-water fisheries and their watersheds in Rhode Island through collaborative, educational, and environmental activities” will be available for sale prior to the meeting, as well as our famous half-priced tying material table We are pleased to have Rick Little of Shadcreek Flies present “Fly Fishing in Maine is Wicked Fun” Rick grew up in Marblehead, Mass and is a self-taught fly fisherman who has had the opportunity to learn from some very knowledgeable outdoorsmen and fishermen. Much of what he has learned came from observing nature and skillful fishermen on the water, and conversations about fish, flies, fishing and life, around Coleman lanterns and campfires on many rivers. Rick has been active in conservation organizations for years – including serving as president of Trout Unlimited Chapters in Manchester, NH and Bangor, ME. The West Branch of the Penobscot, Rapid River, Roach River and East Outlet (headwaters of the Kennebec River) are all waters that Rick discusses in this program highlighting some of the wonderful rivers that Maine has to offer. Rick has spent hundreds of days and un-counted hours fishing these waters and will talk about the rivers, his style of fishing, and the flies and techniques that have been successful. The program is filled with photos of these great rivers and the flies that he uses. For those people who have fished these waters, the program will spark many great memories. For those who have not fished these rivers yet, but want to give them a try, this program will provide information that will give them a head start when they venture out onto the water. Please join Rick for a discussion about some beautiful country and fascinating fishing opportunities.
